Aléta Mascorro (She/Her)

Aléta Mascorro is a multi-hyphenate theater artist, instructor, and astrologer of the Xicana trans experience based in the Central Valley of California (unceded Yokut Nototomne territory).

Aléta first discovered astrology in high school and has since used it as a tool for self-awareness, integration, and building community with others. While she is inspired by the joy and life of Walter Mercado, she also takes inspiration from astrologers such as Chani Nicholas, The Elysian Aquarius, Colin Bedell, and Clementine Chloe.

Her creative influences include immersive theater, queer theater, Viewpoints, Optika Moderna, and Adelina Anthony. As a theater artist, Aléta’s creative interests are acting, directing, and playwriting primarily; and dramaturgy and producing secondary.

She recently served as an instructor of Ethnic Studies at the Pre-College TRIO Program at Modesto Junior College. Aléta earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts and Ethnic Studies from CSU Stanislaus and last May, she received her M.A. in Theatre Arts from San Diego State University.

Aléta is a strong advocate for complex, positive, and productive diverse representation. She believes in theater being used as a form of medicine and a tool for creating a more just world.

Aléta is also an Aquarius Moon and loves to fill up her cup by taking walks in nature and reading YA QTBIPOC fiction <3
