Zoe Wagner is a visual artist based in Oakland, CA. They primarily work in printmaking and paper mache, with an emphasis on large-scale puppetry. Their work tends to be inspired by the natural environment, and is moving towards the world of activist art.
Their work in puppetry has been used for celebration, advocacy, and protest. They have collaborated with groups such as North Bay Jobs with Justice in Sonoma County, a group that advocates for the rights and safety of migrant farmworkers in wine country, and helped create art that represents the demands and integral story of the workers. Recently, Zoe worked with the group Making Waves with Artists Collaborative and Save our Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake City, Utah, to build giant pelicans that would serve as vigil holders for the environmental activism surrounding the Great Salt Lake.
